I have been playing some poker at the new Bovada Poker (formerly Bodog) and there are a couple of things I am not sure I like and would love to know how you feel...

The first one is that at Bovada tables you are given a number... your name does not show up and makes all players anonymous... I don't know if other poker rooms do this but it is a first for me...

For me this is not pleasing... I can see that it is fair, with everyone on an even playing field without positive or negative reputations. But, poker to me has a very important element in getting to know your opponents. Also, I think this encourages people to do the ALL-IN Samba without others getting to know their evil ways.

The other thing that bugs me is that you sit where they put you... you don't have an option of changing the vantage point. I always play the closest seat at the bottom of the screen so I can see better and it feels more natural, like I am looking from where I am sitting and not across the table from my real self... Perhaps I am spoiled because everywhere else I have played had the option to change your seat. What do you think about this?

As for the numbers Katt (which I assume changes each time you log in), this is purely to protect players from the database software that tracks players games.  Great if you are a high roller or a pro but not so great for players like us.

As for not having the option to change your seat, I must admit I don't like not being able to choose where I sit.  Not sure of the reasoning behind that either.

Makes sense about the data collection... actually the number changes for each game you play. The just assign them in order as you register for a game.  Since they mix the numbers up at the table or tables the seating is not based on those numbers so changing the vantage point of the player would not serve to get them out of order. I think perhaps it is just the software... Suppose perhaps they save on programming without this feature... I should probably go find their suggestion box and put in a word about this stuff!

Good idea Katt.  It's good to get it off your chest.
