I was interested to see a new Guinness Book World Record set in the
poker world by Randy "nanonoko" Lew at
PokerStars (You can view the full article
HERE. Randy Lew played 23,493 hands over an 8 hour period at 40 virtual tables. His net profit for this marathon? $7.50.
Seeing this made me wonder what other poker world records there are. Here are a few of them:
Youngest WSOP Champion Joe Cada (USA, b. 18 November 1987), became the youngest winner of the World Series of Poker main event at the age of 21 years, 357 days on 10 November 2009.
Largest amount of players at an online poker roomThe largest online
poker tournament started with 307,016 participants on 42,814 virtual tables and was organised by
PokerStars.com on 6 September 2009.
Most online poker tables played in one hourThe most online poker tables played in 1 hour is 62, achieved by Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier (France) for PokerStars.com at
Monte Carlo Bay Resort, Monte Carlo ( Monaco) on 28 April 2009.
First FBI gambling investigation within a virtual worldThe earliest FBI gambilng investigation within a virtual world took place in April 2007 when it was reported that the FBI had visited in-game casinos in Second Life. It was legally unclear whether or not betting with Linden dollars, which can be exchanged for real world money, was in violation of
gambling laws. The three largest poker casinos reportedly were earning around $1,500 per month.
That last one is very interesting.
My question to you is, if you were going to be in the Guinness Book of World Records for poker, what poker record would you like to set?
I think mine would have to be the biggest ever Bad Beat
Jackpot winner.
