Hi Critter,

The only advice i can give you is when u have a beautiful hand as in high pocket pairs.........I use to slow play them. I have gotten burned so bad with bad beats doing that.

I now will bet really hard with a hand like that to try to weed out the donkeys. I hope that helps some!

It does seem like slow playing is like slow death in online poker, there is just so many players that play any two cards and they are the ones who seem to get rewarded with the river suck-out, you will NEVER see that in live games which is why i dont play as much as i did when i first started 6 or 7 years ago.

Sound advice from Lipstick.

Bet very very high if you have a great hand. Dont let the fish in too cheaply - if they wanna play their rubbish they gotta pay to play it.  You have to weed out the fish.

Once the flop comes down - look for flush draws / straight draws.  If there is a whiff of one - bet high to stop them drawing on it.    If you think you are in the lead on the "turn" - dont let them in too cheaply again.

If you have "the nuts" - drain em for every cent you can get out of them but subtly.  Do a bit of checking now and then to suck em in.

You have to assess the situation, assess your hand, assess your opponents and assess where you stand in the "stacks" on the table - make your bet on what you know - and a little bit of gut instinct too.

Example - yesterday I had a game and I had pocket 4's.  There was a guy who kept nicking the blinds and he raised pre flop, I called.  Flop comes down 752.  This guy bets and bets and bets and I just went with him all the way.  My instinct told me he had nothing and was just trying it on.  He showed - he had nothing and I won with my 4s.   Im not saying you get it right every time, but practice, patience and a little bit of thought may see you through to the money.
