I thought I would try a poker quiz.  See how many you can get right. Answers will be revealed at a later date:

3.  As a percentage, what are the odds of you being dealt pocket aces?

Nice to see you back on the forum and thanks for giving this a go.

You were pretty close on number 3 but I'm intrigued by your answer to number 4 - please tell me the cards you think are the 32 outs.

Regarding the fast poker at pokerstars, I did do a post on that with all the details but because you've not been around for a while, I doubt you would have seen it.

Thanks blue, glad to be feeling well enough to spend a bit of time here.

As for number 4... I am still having a heck of a time with outs... I almost said 16 because you only have 2 cards left to be dealt, but here is what I did to come up with 32...

You are dealt 10/J Hearts  and the flop is 8 Hearts, 9 Clubs, A Hearts.

So, I figured you have the 8,9,10,J toward a straight... so you have 4 7's and 4 Q's in the deck for 8 outs. Then you have the 8,10, J, A of hearts, toward a flush, leaving 9 other hearts in the deck for 9 outs. Then you could get a pair of any of the cards and there are 3 more of each of those for 15 outs, which makes 8+9+15=32 outs. And as I said I almost said 16 because you only have 2 cards left to go.

But, as I was typing that I see that you could also get a K and Q for a straight too... for 8 more outs making 40 outs and cut in half because of only 2 cards left that would be 20 outs! And now I am laughing too hard to go on! ....

Please tell me how I really should have figured this out exactly. You can see I need a lot of help here!

I bet that confused you when you were writing that

This is how I worked it out.  You have a flush and a straight draw.  You are right about the 7s and the Qs which = 8 for the straight.  For the flush there are 9 more cards however you have already included 7h and Qh for the straight so that knocks it down to 7.  8+7 = 15.

You can't count the K because that would be reliant upon you getting the Q.  You can't count your 8s/9s/10s/Js for pairs because there is an ace on the board and if someone is holding an ace, you are beaten.  If you wanted to include your 10s and Js though, that would add another 6 cards making 21.
