Hi Poker Players,

We all talk about poker cheats and scammers. But there is one area of cheating that has never been addressed by the poker sites or the player. That is using Instant Messenger with friends while sitting at the same table and tag teaming.

This in itself is a form of cheating and i am sure many players use this as a means of winning making a business out of it.

I know it can be prevented because just like taking a test online all other programs are disengaged  during the test period. If a student tried to go to a search engine or another site they were thrown out of the test with no way back in.

I know while playing, more then once there has been a tag team at my table. If it was possible for poker sites to disallow IM and disable this feature while on their site do you feel it is a good idea?

I don't think it would prevent anyone from cheating; they'd simply use any other IM service...yahoo, messenger, skype, facebook, etc

Yes I think they should ban them.  There is a lot of collusion that goes on - I see it all too often.

But as dt points out - it would be virtually impossible to track them all.

All you can do is report your collusion suspicions to the site.  They do look into it which is something I guess.

In the case of doing online classes the Universities were capable of blocking any type of site when taking a test. If an attempt was made students were thrown out of the test and could not re-enter so it's possible to achieve. I know cuz i tried to google as fast as i could on a timed test for the answer and i learned the hard way!

Of course the other option to cheat would be via phone or cell IM. But i could drastically cut it down.

Very true.  It's a shame that it comes to that though - why can't they just play a fair game.  It gets my back up tbh.
