PokerStars (no USA) announce a new online poker tournament format!

Time Tourneys last for a set amount of time only, and range from 15 minutes up to 180 minutes. The action is fast, and when time’s up, cash prizes are awarded according to the stack sizes of players still left in! Time Tourneys run around the clock, and you can play for as little as just $1.

How to Play Time Tourneys

Where to Find

Time Tourneys are listed in the PokerStars game software under the ‘Tourney’ tab, each one marked with a stopwatch icon. You can also quickly find the list of upcoming Time Tourneys by typing ‘Time’ into the Tourney Filter.

Time Tourney Deposit Bonus Offer

Want to try a Time Tourney for free? Deposit $30 or more into your PokerStars account between now and October 28 with the bonus code ‘TIME’, and you’ll be credited with a free $5.50 ticket* for the Time Tourney of your choice!

Saturday Countdown

To celebrate the launch of Time Tourneys, a new weekly event is being added to the Saturday Line-Up! The Saturday Countdown has a buy-in of $22 and is a Time Tourney that lasts for two hours. It takes place at 13:00 ET (18:00 UK Time) from October 22 onwards, with a $10,000 guaranteed prize pool every week. See the Saturday Line-Up page for more information.

*The free ticket must be used before 23:59 ET on October 28 or it will expire. Players are only eligible for one free ticket.

Sounds like fun to me!

It is a huge shame Rosebud that you can't play there any more.  I agree, the time constraint on a tourney is a great thing.

I'll try it out and let you know how it goes although being the player that I am, I shall probably be bottom of the field as I don't play many hands.

I tried a 15 minute time tourney.  I didn't get many good hands and there was 1 blind level to go (there are 5 levels in the15 minute tourney, 10 levels in the 30 minutes tourney...etc).

I was dealt     and decided to try my luck with them.  I threw all my chips in the pot but lost to an Ace rag who hit his ace on the flop.

The prize pool was about $1500 so these tourneys are definitely popular.

Definitely worth a try.

I played one yesterday afternoon - this was a 30 minute tournament.

I managed to make it to the end but I was clobbered with the final blind level at 400/800.  It was a $1 buy in and for my 700+ chips I won a whopping $0.39c!   Hysterical
