Cake Poker (USA ok) and other Cake Network Poker sites offer Gold Cards which you can earn whilst playing ring games.

But how are they awarded and what can you do with them?

Gold Cards are a collectible reward issued randomly to players seated at any stake or level of the real money ring games. You're eligible to receive a Gold Card even if you fold. Gold Cards give you access to over $100,000 in monthly cash and prizes.

How do I earn a Gold Card?

Every time the table reaches a pre-determined rake amount a Gold Card is randomly issued to one player at that table. So, while Gold Cards are issued to players of all stakes and levels, higher limit games will be rewarded more frequently.

What is the value of a Gold Card?

Have you ever collected stamps or baseball cards? Think along those lines. While some offer instant value on their own, others may increase in value as your collection grows and time passes. How you use them is the fun part. Before redeeming your cards for a reward get familiar with judging their value by the following indicators:

By Card

In a regular deck of cards, each individual card holds a different value based on its number or face, and its suit; Gold Cards are no different. Use the Gold Card Odds chart to help determine value. The less the odds are of receiving a given card, the more valuable it is likely to be.

By Year

A sash is displayed on every Gold Card you receive. The older a card is, the more valuable it becomes. You’ll notice that Gold Card Tournaments prize pools and value are better the higher the Gold Card buy-in is. For example, a 2008 King of Clubs Gold Card buy-in event will be much sweeter than a Two of Clubs one.  Here are a couple of examples:

Do Gold Cards Expire?

Collecting Gold Cards is much like collecting any other commodity, such as stamps or baseball cards. Older cards may hold more value as the Series roll along, but they never expire.

What Gold Cards get you

Tournaments

Gold Cards serve as buy-ins to an exclusive set of daily satellites and prize pool events under the Gold Tab in the Cake Poker software.

The Exchange

Sell your Gold Cards for cash or buy the Gold Card you need to enter a certain Gold Card Tournament!

I was just looking on the exchange and the top seller this week has earned themselves over $900!

There is definitely value in the gold cards.
