I remember my first poker game very clearly.  I believe it was at either 888Poker or Pacific Poker.  It's quite ironic that these two sites have merged into one.  It was a freeroll as I didn't feel confident enough to put money into the cashier, let alone play with real cash!

I remember thinking "this is easy" and yet I was knocked out within about 10 minutes (if that).  I then moved onto the play money tables and decided this was going to be my online poker learning ground.  I must have restocked my 1,000 play chips about 6 times (just buying into small play money tournaments), so you can imagine how many tournaments I played to spend 6,000 in chips.

After spending all those chips, I actually starting winning and things started to "click".  I managed to get my stack up to 39,000 and decided it was time to deposit.  I was really scared to spend money on the internet but I finally plucked up the courage and put $30 on.

I managed to get my balance up to $500 and withdrew $300 after many many hours of playing sitngo's and tournaments.  After my withdrawal, things went a bit sour and I managed to lose most of it.  I think my $30 deposit must have lasted me at least a year and with $270 profit, it was money definitely well spent.

I also spent a lot of time watching the higher buyin games on Pacific Poker.  I loved the USA players on there; they were brilliant players and friendly too.  I'm talking a good few years ago now, as you can tell.

What is your first online poker experience?

Great thread blue!

My first experience playing online poker was at Party Poker. I didn't play for real money but only in fun mode. And i played with such a passion you would think there was a lot of real cash at stake!

A friend of my use to play at Full Tilt Poker and asked me to come and check it out. Then i got hooked on that. He tried to convince me to make a deposit and i was too scared. At that time i never made a deposit anywhere and was strictly a free chip whore at casinos.

So one day he just put money in my player account........that's all it took. The barn gate opened and i was off and running like a filly depositing at casinos too!

Thanks for the great replies Rosebud and Lips.

I agree Rosebud, one can never stop learning about poker.

Lips, I bet you were glad your friend transferred you some funds.  Do you think you would have plucked up the courage at some point to deposit if your friend hadn't transferred that money?

Blue, yes,I think life and poker are two things that people (or as far as a poker fanatic like me ) you can always benefit from learning more about. The mind along with with a good poker hand are a terrible thing to waste.Laugh out Loud!!

Something called PurePlay.  They kept sending me more (haha) money.  I still don't get it, but Jake played there a little bit and did pretty good.  Since I couldn't figure out how to get any real money out of playing, I didn't last long.  Have not been brave enough to play anywhere else.
