What would you do in this spot?
« on: June 23, 2009, 01:20:07 AM »
Suppose you are in the main event at the WSOP. You have 12K in front of you and blinds are 100/200.

You have the button and it folds around to you. You wake up with QQ and raise it up 3X making it 600 to go. Little mucks and BB who is Barry Greenstein re raises 900 more.

Barry as usual has been playing fairly tight, you immediately put him on AA,KK or AK..Flop comes A Q Q.

He checks to you and you decide to play fast and put a feeler bet out of 1200. He smooth calls. Okay you now figure kings are out and he has AA or AK.

Turn is a blank. You feel if he checks again and you check you can at provoke a bet from AK on river. If he has AA well you are getting excited for the double up.

You both check turn. Now another Ace hits the river. He comes out swinging for 3500. Okay now if he has AK of course you double as he cannot fold an Ace here but if what if he just made quads too...

Would you just smooth call river just in case or come over the top all in?

The chances of him having AA preflop is 220/1 against the odds of your QQ which is 54.3/1.  Four of a kind - raise his butt!

I have seen a game in which my son was playing (online) and he shouted for me to come look at the hand.  One guy had JJ and another had AA and they had both gone all in after the flop which was JJA.  The A did come so there was indeed 2 x 4 of a kind on the table.  Definitely a bad beat situation.  Im hoping (as per the odds) you are going to say he had something pathetic like pocket 7s.

It's a no brainer.... ALL in.... where does this get hard or confusing? If you have that much money in the pot... and you have quads... and your even thinking about anything other than going all in... you need to stop playing poker in my eyes! Would be a cold day in hell the day i just "call" a bet with quad q's. If  he has the pct aces... i'm done... but as soon as his 3500 hit the table.... both my hands are pushing all in, and he calls for sure, he never puts you on quads... he never would have bet 3500 if he did.
