The first bonus i am trying out is Everest Pokers $300 sign up bonus. I picked this one because you don't have to deposit anything except the minimum to claim it.
I deposited $100 to get started but you could begin with less if you like. Now i'm ready to go. I must admit the software is a bit clunky but works well enough.
I haven't actually played poker for six months so i thought i would take it slow, and entered a few $1-$5 tournaments and jumped on a 50c 10 man cash table. It didnt take me long to remember why i stopped playing, as my aa and kk got owned almost immediately. But on a positive note the players seem particularly average, without being so aggressive that it forces you out of every pot.
Also the bonus released relatively quickly, after about an hour on the low stakes cash table i made about $1.5 off the bonus. While for every dollar you spend in tournament fees you get roughly 55c back. So for a $10 tournament with a $1 fee you will get back 55c.
After playing here against a hell of a lot of germans, i was getting thoroughly spanked. Down about $20 without wining a single hand, i finally got a break through. of all hands it was 10 6, i was sb and let the bb bet into me after flopping top two pair and he really went for it. After filling up on the turn with a fullhouse i milked almost all his money, to find out he had absolutely nothing (ace high).
And in my very first win of the day i had made all my money back plus some. I finished the day with $105 and had cleared $2.20 of the bonus. For a day where it didn't seem like much went my way this wasn't a bad result.
Stay tuned for my next post where I'll give you an update on how everest is going, and try to throw in at least one advanced poker tip.
Cheers,
Big Deanus
