Okay so its been a pretty crazy week at Everest poker, Despite playing very low stakes there where many ups and downs and for the first time in years i got called a fish!! And not once but twice, the nerve of these cheeky Everest bastards.
Everything started great, i had a good week of winning about $20 a day on 25/50c tables plus a few final tables in some tournaments(crashed out before any good money, but its nice to get a cash).
It was a $5 freeze out where i was called a fish, down to the last 20 and i made a very risky call on an all in on the river. i was sitting with 77 and the flop was qj6 up against an aggressive player, he check the flop though and i was feeling confident when a 4 came on the turn. He made a small raise i think 2k when there was already 6k in the pot, it was here i thought he was bluffing or had a big hand and was trying to trap me so i flat called. The river was a 2, which i was happy with and then he went all in. This made no sense to me as i knew the river hadn't improved him, and if he was trying to milk money out of a big hand he would have made a callable raise. So i called and he showed ace high, then the abuse started. I was called every name you could think of for 20 minutes until he blew his stack and got bubbled at 11th place. I don't think being sodomized by an eight foot black guy could of wiped the smile off my face after that result.
So i'm up about $220 from my starting stack, and then it was like Everest flicked a switch on me and everything went bad. After getting some of the most unlucky beats i can remember for two days i finally lost it and tilted. Surprisingly no one called me a fish then, as i played like a madman and threw a heap of money away.I had to get off the cash tables or i would blow everything, so i entered a $2 rebuy. I actually had a bet with my brother on who would go further in the rebuy, i bombed out early and had to rebuy so he won the bet. But then it all turned around and i ended up winning it in convincing fashion, picking up $270 and making me feel a hell of a lot better. Although even though i won the whole tournament, i still lost the bet with my brother which didn't seem right.
So i finished the week with $495 in my account, which is a profit of $395. The funny thing is i have only cleared $50 of the bonus which kind of seems inconsequential, it all helps though.
I will post a poker tip for my next blog, a simple guide to bluffing so check it out if you like to bluff but seem to get caught out a lot.
I wonder if anyone is actually reading this, but if you are thanks for making it this far and good luck on the tables.
