I read a news article a while ago that some poker sites want more fish to join their site.
Now this sounds like a bit of a strange thing to say when you first read it but if you think logically about it, it is indeed a clever money making ploy.
The way I see it is this. If a noob fish joins a site and deposits for the first time - lets pick PKR which is a classic site to find fish. As a side note, I have to say that I love this site with its amazing 3D graphics and cheeky emotes etc. but there are indeed fish aplenty. Now as a noob fish on this site, they are definitely going to get lucky and going to win with dodgy all ins and fishy calls.
The fish take the money from the good players, the good players deposit again and the fish are revelling in their glory...for a short while at least. They believe they are a great player so they up the stakes and either start playing in the higher stakes ring games (single tables non tournament) or they play in high stakes tourneys and sitngos. They are such poor players, they eventually (after the noob period has ended) lose all their money. All the time this is going on, the site rakes its rake and gets richer. In the meantime, the noobs are depositing as are the good players....and so it goes on.
I'm surmising all this because that can be the only reason a site would want more fish on it.
Now the big question - how can you tell a noob fish on PKR? It's quite simple - just check the clothes they are wearing (their avatar of course). As a new player on this site, you can only wear what is free in the wardrobe area of the site. You will note all new players wearing the same sort of clothing. Only players that have been there for some time can afford new items which you buy with your poker points that you have earned by playing games.
I would welcome comments on my angle on things and also any other views that you might have.
Until the next time.....gone fishing.
