How come some days, no matter how good your hand is or how well you play, you cannot win?
You sign up to a sitngo or a tournament, you wait for those premium hands early on in the game, raise the appropriate amount only to be beaten by someone with 57 offsuit.
It doesn't matter what level of buyin or the type of game, you can do no right.
I'm sure it's not just me this happens to as it can happen on several different sites on the same day. I played a game earlier on 888 Poker and I had pocket queens.
I raised pre-flop and one player called. Another player re-raised which put me all in so I called. The player next to me also called. The player next to me showed his hand and it was 37 off suit. The other player in the hand who re-raised, amazingly showed pocket queens.
The flop came down 3J7. After that, I knew that I along with the other player with Queens would lose the hand. Needless to say the two pairs held and both of us with the pocket queens were out.
There are several things that came to mind, some that I obviously cannot repeat! But what did occur to me was firstly, why did the player with 37 offsuit call the raise in the first place and secondly, why did the same player call the re-raise with such a poor hand? Did this player know something that I didn't? Did this player know how to play the RNG?
Whatever the reasoning behind it, this donkey made a bad call. If I was in that position with 37 off, there would be no way I would call with that hand.
There really is only one answer to this problem....step away from the computer.
Log out of hte poker software, do something less interesting for a while and then log back in and try your luck again. If nothing has changed, then it really is time to give up for the day.
Being a persistent person, I did step away for a while, logged back in, played a game and won.
The problem with days like this is I begin to question my poker skils and until I have won a game, I will believe that I am the problem rather than the other players. Going back to prove to yourself that you haven't lost the plot is really the best thing to try but if you still lose, time to leave it until tomorrow to play again.
