On 6th November 2012, PokerStars will be opening Full Tilt Poker to customers once again.
In June 2011, the virtual doors were closed due to the license being suspended by the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC). The reason for the suspension as per the statement from the AGCC:
"The decision to suspend these licenses follows a special investigation prompted by the indictments unsealed by U.S. Attorney General's Office in the Southern District of New York on April 15, 2011, during which grounds were found to indicate that these licensees and their business associates were operating contrary to Alderney legislation. The nature of the findings necessitated the taking of immediate action in the public interest."
Group Bernard Tapie were in the throws of making a deal with the US Government but at the last minute, pulled out.
PokerStars stepped in and made a deal with the US Government and handed over some $547 million which will in part be used to reimburse former Full Tilt Poker customers in the United States through a process to be administered by the U.S. Government. A further $184 million was guaranteed by PokerStars in order to reimburse all non US players.
US players received information from PokerStars recently regarding their accounts at FTP as follows:. "In relation to your account balance, you will have the opportunity to file petition with the DOJ through a remission process which will be administrated by the DOJ. Only play chip games will be available to Full Tilt Poker players in the U.S. following re-launch, in the first week of November, 2012. Your Full Tilt Points balance will remain intact in your account."
"Please note that we are unable to answer queries in relation to your funds - all such questions should be directed to the DOJ in accordance with the procedure to be defined by them."
Unfortunately US players will have to wait patiently not just to receive their funds back from the US Government but also to be able to play for real cash once again on Full Tilt.
With just 10 days to go, I'm sure many non US players are looking forward to some of the different and specal games only to be found at Ful Tilt for example Matrix games and of course the first of the speed poker games, Rush Poker.
