Hi Y'all,
It's been awhile. I considered coming up with an elaborate and fantastical untruth for my late blog entry, (because generic lies are boring). But let's just say I was cattle-rustling wild hamsters on the wild plains of the serenghetti. Warning note: the wild hamster is an even more ferocious animal than the domesticated hamster. Do not, ever, grab one by it's little hamster coogle sack.
My wild and crazy adventures, and my frequent globe-trotting have somewhat hampstered (I mean hampered) my poker play. I will continue to play and blog for latestpokerbonuses, but on a slightly more informal basis.
Now on to the meat of todays blog.
Over the last few months I have played sparingly, and probably poorly. I was down $150 on my bankroll, and decided to play a $10 HORSE tournament. (250 entrants)
For those not familiar with HORSE. It is a poker game that incorporates 5 variations of poker. HORSE is an acronym, and it stands for:
H - Hold 'em
O - Omaha (sometimes hi/lo)
R - Razz
S - Seven Card Stud
E - Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo
Starting with 3K chips I was soon struggling, and down to 1K chips. But, in one hand I tripled up to 3.5K and from there on, I was rolling. Not only was I hitting every card and draw, but I was playing well also. All of a sudden I was a monster stack, and began to bully smaller stacks. "Beware the monster stack, for he shall runneth over you...", became my motto.
In one big hand, blinds at 1/2K I raise in late position with 37 suited. Big blind re-raises, I flat call. The flop is Q-8-3. I check call BB continuation bet, the turn is another 3 (I told you I was hitting cards from heaven!). I check raise BB, and all of a sudden there is a massive pot brewing. BB uses timebank and ends up folding to my dismay, but I rake in one of many large pots.
On the final table with 3 left, and I have a 5-1 chip advantage over the remaining 2 players. I dispatch of them samurai style, and have sliced my way back into the black (ie bankroll).
My current bankroll now stands at $3350, fingers crossed it continues in this upward trend.
Aloha
the Colonel
