WSOP Twittering

Jun 01, 2009
A new and interesting way to keep up with the poker aces With the 40th World Series of Poker just started in Las Vegas, a new service for poker fans is making an impression, using the trendy Twitter short-comment social network. Poker Road Nation.com came up with this clever and interesting application, which carries the company's branding and aggregates tweets (brief comments) from professional players involved in the action. Poker fans can use the facility to filter the tweets to see updates from specific WSOP players or from specific events. There are over 50 events this year, and thousands of players will be involved as poker's biggest world festival unfolds. It's a unique way to plug in to what the players are thinking or doing at that moment - not always the most profound as statements go, but it's quick and there are gems and not a little entertainment in the humour that often surfaces. When InfoPowa visited the service briefly on Saturday morning there were tweets from WSOP itself with updates like "With 28 players left in the $40K NLHE, they are only one elimination away from the money & at least a $71,858 payday." There were also comments from the likes of Annie Duke, Jean-Robert Bellande, Jeff Madsen, Kenna James, Todd Brunson, Justin Bonomo, Beth Shak, Joe Sebok, Kristy Gazes, Andy Bloch, Daniel Negreanu and Brandon Cantu....and that was only on the first page! http://tweet.pkrrd.com/nation/updates
