More WCOOP Seats Available

PokerStars boosts seat award budget by a million

Pokerheads looking to win seats for the upcoming PokerStars World Championship of Poker (WCOOP) in satellites have a million dollar's worth of additional chances this year following a major addition to the seat sponsorship budget.

Running from August 4th to 16th, the qualifiers are available daily to PokerStars players.

“We're calling them the WCOOP Extreme Satellites, harkening to extreme sports in the sense that we're having a massive giveaway in the satellites,” said poker room manager Mike Jones. “In every satellite, we're going to be adding 50 to 100 seats to the prize pool … We're throwing in literally $1 million worth of seats completely as added value, and those [satellites] start as low as $7.50.”

For the Extreme Satellites, players will win their way into a WCOOP tournament of a certain buy-in, rather than a specific tournament, so that players have more personal choice in tourneys.

Last year, WCOOP prizes totalled almost $40 million over 33 events.
