Weak Start For Poker Pros In 'The Amazing Race'

Sep 30, 2009
Michelle and Ho narrowly avoid first round elimination We don'twant to spoil the fun for future viewers outside the USA of the exciting CBS television reality program 'The Amazing Race', so we'll forego the detail, but poker pros Maria Ho and Tiffany Michelle's performance on the recently screened first leg of the program was disappointing. The two woman team (see previous InfoPowa reports) recently completed filming the 15th edition of the popular program, which was screened this week in the United States. The first elimination took viewers by surprise, taking place at the starting point of the race. Ho and Michelle survived that, but came unstuck in the first outbound leg, finishing last. They were fortunate that the program producers had decided that this was a non-elimination leg, but had to contend with a 'Speed Bump' penalty on the next leg, finally managing only a sixth place finish. Some critics were scathing regarding the duo's attempt to portray themselves as non-profit organisation workers instead of generally successful and well-heeled poker pros - a subterfuge that failed when they were recognised in a Japanese airport. With the bulk of the race still to be screened, the poker pair are still very much in the running, but will have to up their game. For US readers, The Amazing Race airs every Sunday on CBS at 8:00pm ET.
