Pokerducks Closes

Online poker site may have been a victim of its own success Another online poker site has gone to the wall with little if any explanation, although it is believed to be a victim of Boss Media network fines levied on member operators who sign up too many winning players and not enough 'new blood'. Pokerducks.com, owned by the Malta-based and Kahnawake licensed Astraline Limited company, was endorsed by this year's Irish Open winner Christer Johansson and appeared to be doing well. Originally powered by Tain, it switched to the International Poker Network operated by Boss Media, from where it closed this week. The closure notice on the website gave little information, simply stating: "Pokerducks is closed. Please contact support@pokerducks.com". Pokerducks was the subject of a cautionary warning from the LGA regulator on Malta in 2006. In a press release, the LGA claimed: "The Lotteries and Gaming Authority would like to bring to your attention that a foreign remote gaming company by the name of Poker Ducks is claiming that it is being located in Malta and therefore winnings for EU citizens are tax free. "The Authority would like to inform the public at large that the above statement is not true. Pokerducks.com has no connection whatsoever with the Maltese jurisdiction."
