Pokerstars Boosts Guarantee On WCOOP Main Event

2010 champ will take home at least $2 million Pokerstars.com just made the main event of the currently running 2010 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) a whole lot more interesting and competitive by boosting the guaranteed main prize to at least $2 million. The news comes just days after the WCOOP got under way last Sunday, with eight new WCOOP champions already crowned and more than $11 million awarded in prize money. The 2010 WCOOP schedule expands on last year's series, featuring 62 individual events over 22 days. Tournaments in many of poker's most popular variations and at different buy-ins fill the schedule, with the biggest guaranteed total prize pool of any online tournament series - a combined $50 million - which on an event-by-event basis have all been smashed so far with record entry fields (see previous InfoPowa reports). The two-day Main Event starts 26 September and features a $5,200 buy-in and that massive first prize. Last year's main event winner, Yevgeniy Timoshenko, walked away with a first prize of $1,715,200.
