PokerStars Ad Banned in Germany

Poker players still attracted to controversial commercial

An unconventional 90 second advert running a parole “Play Online Poker; It's Safer PokerStars - Awarded Safest Online Poker Site” featuring a Norwegian PokerStars Pro Team member Johnny Lodden among others, has been banned from the German TV.

The reason for this is the content of the commercial, in which poker players use rather dubious ways to get rid of each other, such as poisoning, fire, and other controversial means.

Still, despite the German TV ban, the commercial is being shown on poker sites and forums, as well as on YouTube, where it is exposed to a far greater number of viewers.
