It still remains to be seen…
The situation with intrastate online poker field in Washington DC will clear up on April 8, since one question is still hanging in the air: Has the US Congress allowed Washington DC to enter the field by default through missing the midnight Thursday deadline for objections?
The decision the Congress was facing referred to the provision included in the budget passed by the Washington DC city council in 2010, according to which the district's lottery may operate an online poker website. The deadline for that decision was Thursday, and theoretically if no objections have been raised the project can move on.
If such a theory proves to be right, it could turn Washington into the pioneer in legalization of online poker on an intrastate level, even before New Jersey, Florida, Iowa, California and Hawaii - all of which have legalization initiatives pending.
