Power Poker bans new US signups
The effects of Black Friday on the US online poker market are still being felt significantly. This week came reports that another online poker operator decided to ban new US player signups - Power Poker, an EU-based company working on the Cake network.
The notice displayed on the site states:
"Due to recent movements by the U.S. government concerning online poker, PowerPoker is no longer accepting new U.S. players.
"Following the April 15 “Black Friday” shut-down of major online poker sites, PowerPoker Management have decided to pull out of the U.S. market fully and indefinitely.
"Any existing U.S. accounts will remain accessible as normal."
PowerPoker, which was founded in February 2009, has two sister sites - PowerVegas and PowerPartners, and its offering includes Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, 7 Card Stud and 7 Card Stud Hi-Lo.
