Hollywood Star in Illegal Poker Allegations

Spiderman actor allegedly ran 'underground' poker games It has been reported this week that Spiderman movie star Tobey Maguire is one of a dozen Hollywood stars who are being sued in connection with an illegal gambling ring. The ring reportedly ran underground poker games in the States, worth millions of dollars. It has been claimed in the litigation that Maguire won more than $300,000 worth of allegedly embezzled funds from hedge fund investor by Bradley Ruderman, CEO of Ruderman Capital Partners, who is currently in prison. Ruderman was the one leading the poker sessions held bi-weekly in suites at the Beverly Hills Hotel, Viper Room and Four Seasons Hotel, despite being prohibited by California law. It has been specified by investigators who worked on the case that Ruderman's losses involved $25 million of investor money. Maguire is now in trouble thanks to trustees who are trying to seize some of his winnings, as Ruderman's company is now in bankruptcy. The litigations involve other big Hollywood names, as well, including Nick Cassavetes, Gabe Kaplan, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon.
