Both regulator and software provider abandon poker operator
After a press release issued by its software provider Microgaming, in which it advised that online poker operator 24Poker has been blocked, industry observers are left to speculate what’s behind this move.
According to the Microgaming press release, "Microgaming today announced that all game play on the 24 Poker website has been blocked due to the Kahnawake Gaming Commission suspending 24 Poker’s gaming license. Both Microgaming and the Kahnawake Gaming Commission have tried without success to contact the 24 Poker Management Team. Further announcements will be made as additional information becomes available.”
What’s odd about this license revocation is that 24Poker’s current license was not due to expire until the end of January 2012.
Yet, this company, operated by BPR Services Limited from the UK is not the only one to see its license revoked - the KGC has also advised that the license of Blue Cactus Enterprises was revoked on November 16 for failure to pay its licensing fees, affecting online gambling websites Kong88 and Live Gambler.
