Shallow Takes a Deep Plunge to Find Gold at Inaugural World Poker Tour Ireland
UK poker pro celebrates after excellent play This weekend, the inaugural World Poker Tour Ireland saw the end of its main event, where the UK-based poker pro David Shallow (29) outplayed a field of 338 which involved many big names. Thanks to his marvelous play at the four-day event in Dublin, Shallow took home the $289,031 main prize and a $25,000 seat at the WPT World Championships – his biggest career earning yet. Apart from Shallow, the final table comprised just four other players: Charles Chattha, Ronan Gilligan, Patrik Vestlin and Steve Watts. However, in the heads-up, Shallow encountered Charles Chattha, holding 7.28 million chips against Chattha's 2.86 million. Chattha showed some formidable opposition to Shallow's aggressive yet disciplined style, but that was not enough to claim the winner's position, so he had to settle with a runner-up paycheck for $144,502.
