Compromise reached
After the big dispute between online poker giant PokerStars and its French players, and negotiations that took place at the Isle of Man headquarters of the poker operator, the parties seem to have reached a compromise.
Namely, it has been reported that player differences with the operator over tough changes to rake calculation and VIP rewards have been overcome in a deal that includes an increase in the VPP multiplier from 5.5 to 6 and the tournament multiplier to 6.5, and a boost in Milestone Cash Credits have been to above 2011 levels, and an up in Stellar rewards.
In addition, the deal also envisages one-time compromises for players with high VIP tiers, such as bonus compensation and a 2-month extension to maintain their VIP level this year.
The next step for PokerStars is to appease a wider player interest group, with which it will hold another set of negotiations at its Isle of Man headquarters, particularly focusing on the switch to the “weighted-contributed” rake format, which the group claims has an adverse effect on high-volume players.
