Annual Charity Poker Tourney in Australia Sees Another Successful Year
Charity to receive more money This week saw the end of the annual Joe Hachem and Shane Warne Charity Poker Tournament which has once again raised a significant amount of funds for the Shane Warne Foundation charity. The tournament organized by poker pro and former WSOP champ Hachem and big time cricketer and celebrity poker player Warne attracted a lot of celebs and poker fans, who contributed to the total amount raised. Some of the big names that took part in the tournament included Tony G, Patrik Antonius, Tony Hachem, Robert Williamson III, Daniel Cates, Tiffany Michelle, Maria Ho, Clonie Gowen, Marsha Waggoner, Marvin Rettenmaier, and Annette Obrestad. The main prize was a seat at the next World Series of Poker main event (a travel and accommodation package), a Tissot watch and a signed Shane Warne cricket ball, whereas runner up earned a seat in the Aussie Millions main event, and the top 15 players earned other incentives. The champion of this year's event was a 36-year-old Aussie forklift driver, Glen McGregor, who beat Alain Boratuad to the prize in the heads up. Joe Hachem busted out in third place, while Obrestad and Rettenmaier won lower level prizes and didn't make the top nine players.
