Aussie Millions Main Event Taken Down by Aussie Poker Pro
26-year-old Speidel earns A$1,6 million The Aussie Millions main even has seen its end for this year, and it was 26-year-old Oliver Speidel from Melbourne who scooped the massive win of A$1.6 million after he defeated a host of reputable names who stood up to him in his home town. It was at the eight-hour final table that the battle actually began, as he had to face fierce Canadian ace Kenneth Wong, Yann Dion, Bjorn Li, Patrick Healy, Mohamad Kowssarie, and Mike Krstanoski. Finally, it was Speidel and Wong who clashed in the heads-up, bringing the game to a new level as they were watched by almost 200 spectators and a worldwide audience watching on the internet. In the end, it was Speidel who took the lead and defeated Wong, whose payday seemed quite comforting at its A$ 1 million. In a comment on the win, Speidel said he felt ''exhilaration and disbelief'', adding: ''I'm looking to maybe getting an apartment in the city.'' He also expressed desire to spend some of the money on entering poker tournaments around the world. In his advice to those who aspire to become tournament stars like himself, Speidel said: ''When I first started playing poker I would get really upset when I lost, really happy when I won. The emotional swings were crazy and that's not optimal. ''If you want to play your best all the time you need to keep your emotions under control and not let the losing streaks get to you.''
