Update: Good News for Duhamel
Half of the money recovered A report arrived this week that after a break-in and brief captivity in his own home late last year, poker pro and last year's WSOP champion, Jonathan Duhamel will see at least some of his money back, as the Quebec police recovered half of the $115 000 stolen from him. It has been specified by the police spokesman that a part of the poker star's stolen cash was recovered on January 6, thanks to an anonymous tip that the money is stashed in a mailbox about eight kilometres northeast of Montreal. The box apparently contained almost half of the money in the same denominations and currency as the stolen money. At the moment, charges have been raised against four people, including Duhamel's ex-girlfriend Bianca Rojas-Latraverse. The charges include robbery, assault, kidnapping and conspiracy. The indictees have reportedly taken $40,000 in Canadian currency, Euros 74,000, a Rolex watch and bracelet worth $40,000. A preliminary hearing will be held on February 21; so far, Rojas-Latraverse has pleaded not guilty to five charges related to the robbery, but she, as well as two others, have nevertheless been denied bail.
