Another Caesars Entertainment Executive Comments on Online Gambling
Legalization is necessary but on federal level A new statement came this week from another Caesars Entertainment executive – this time it was the group's chief financial officer Jonathan Halkyard who expressed belief that a growing number of enforcement, community welfare bodies, and land casino operators realizes that reform in terms of online gambling is necessary and that the strict regulation of online poker is crucial. Apart from advocating federal legalization, Halkyard also opined that the US Department of Justice's change of heart regarding the Wire Act has reinforced previous opinions that the status quo on internet poker was no longer acceptable. In addition, the Caesars exec cautioned that fair gaming, secure financial arrangements, precautions against problem and underaged gamblers and the exclusion of criminal elements are an imperative in any legalization initiative. In conclusion, he stressed that individual states' moves towards intrastate legalization could lead to fragmented regulation and confusion, whereas a federal solution would bring clarity and uniform regulatory requirements to internet poker in the United States.
