Everleaf Slapped by Malta Gambling Authority
Sanctions and suspension actions announced by regulator An announcement came from the Malta Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LGA) that it is introducing sanctions against Everleaf Gaming Ltd and suspending the licencee Mowjow Gaming Limited and Mowjow Technology Limited. The reasons behind the decision are still not known, as the authority issued only the following statement: "The LGA Enforcement Unit issued sanctions against Everleaf Gaming Ltd following an investigation which emerged with a number of irregularities in their operation. Everleaf Gaming is being monitored closely to ensure its operation respects Maltese law." The industry observers have been speculating that one of the reasons may be the concern about Everleaf's withdrawal from the U.S. market, the closure of a payment processor and seizure of funds along with US player withdrawal complaints. As for the case against Mowjow Gaming Ltd, an online gaming company that was marketing the launch of and taking registrations for a social money type game, the LGA referred it to the Police of Malta which is to initiate criminal procedures against the company and its shareholders. So far, the reasons behind the suspension of the operator are not clear, with the LGA only saying "the authority was bound not to say more so as not to prejudice the judgement of the police investigating the case".
