WPT Vienna Goes to Danish Pro
Four months – four Danish triumphs at tournaments The latest triumphant Dane at a major tournament in the past four months is poker pro Morten Christensen who took down his first World Poker Tour live tournament at Vienna this weekend. To reach the main prize of Euro 313,390, Christensen had to outplay a field of 396 players who presented some fierce action over the six days of the tournament. Some of the names that competed for the prestigious title included Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Andy Frankenberger, Mike Watson, Davidi Kitai, McLean Karr, Guillaume Darcourt, Scott Seiver, Sam El Sayed, Vanessa Selbst, Steve O'Dwyer, Mike Watson, Todd Terry, Faraz Jaka and Basil Yaiche. At the final table, Christensen faced chip leader at the time Ognjen Sekularac of Serbia on 3,430,000; Ben Wilinofsky (2,270,000); Norbert Szecsi (1,710,000); Konstantin Tolokno (1,085,000) and Goswin Siemsen (875,000). Yet, in the heads up it was Christensen and Konstantin Tolokno who fought for the winner's paycheck, while Sekularac who presented some formidable skill ended up on the fourth placing. But even Tolokno wasn't up to the Dane's fierce playing style and massive chip lead, so he had to settle for the runner up prize of Euro 191,740.
