Update: Campos’ Guilty Plea to be Accepted
US District court to accept plea to Black Friday misdemeanor This week, the US District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan has given his persmission for a guilty plea from a Black Friday defendant payment processor John Campos to be entered. As for another defendant from the same action, Brent Beckley (31), he is to be sentenced this week after pleading guilty in December when he admitted to the court: “I knew that it was illegal to accept credit cards from players to gamble on the Internet. I knew it was illegal to deceive the banks in this way.” He was accused of producing an elaborate scheme to trick American banks into processing Absolute Poker deposits and cashouts together with his colleagues. They were disguising transactions as golf balls, jewelry and other items.
