PokerStars to Acquire Full Tilt Poker?
Negotiations are in the works for PokerStars to acquire Full Tilt Poker. If this deal is solidified, it has the potential to finally put a stop to the two online poker companies' legal problems with the U.S. Justice Department of Justice (DOJ). The word is that the deal indicates that PokerStars would acquire the assets of Full Tilt Poker; however it is unclear as to which assets they would take over. This would be an aspect of the civil case brought by the DOJ against the two companies after their seizure in 2011. Good news for poker players with funds trapped in their Full Tilt Poker accounts, if the deal goes through this would open the door for them to retrieve their outstanding balances. "Full Tilt Poker is more optimistic than ever that its number one goal will be obtained: Full Tilt players will be repaid," according to a statement made by the company on Tuesday. "Full Tilt Poker has been in settlement discussions with the U.S. Department of Justice. As such settlement discussions are always confidential, we are unable to comment on any rumors related to the details of those discussions." There was no comment made by the DOJ and according to a PokerStars's blog, they are also bound by confidentiality and may not speak on the issue.
