Monette Takes Down Another WSOP Event
New bracelet for Californian poker pro Event 10 at the 2012 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas ended on a very good note for Californian poker pro John Monette (30), who took down the $5,000 buy-in Seven-Card Stud competition, besting a field of 145 players and taking home the winner's bracelet and a lion's share in the $681,500 prize pool. At the final table, Monette faced Timothy Finne, Perry Friedman, Jeff Lisandro, Mark Dickstein, Bryn Kenney and Ray Dehkharghani, and saw his aggressive style take him to the heads-up with Huu Vinh. The action in this grand finale of the event was brief – it took Monette just 20 minutes to send his opponent to the exit with the runner-up prize of $117,913. Thanks to this victory, Monette added another WSOP bracelet to the last year's one he won in the eight game mix event. In addition, he took home $190,826 for his trouble, bringing his career winnings above $1.2 million.
