WSOP Event 33 Gold Bracelet goes to Steinberg


A young pro from Fairfield victorious after taking second place in 2010

Max Steinberg (23) outplayed a field of 2 795 in the Event 33 of the World Series of Poker $1000 no-limit hold'em to win the main prize of $440 238 and take home the gold bracelet for the first time in his professional career.

The young poker pro from Fairfield, Iowa was known for his runner-up position in the WSOP 2010 event.

“It feels really, really good. I got second two years ago, and I really wanted that bracelet. It just felt good to play really well at the final table, and get it in good and win, feeling like I was the best player there,” he said. “I felt really comfortable, even iAn the heads up. Someone asked me if I felt extra pressure because I had gotten second before, and it was actually the opposite, I felt no pressure at all.”

By eliminating Samuel Gerber in the heads up, Steinberg exceeded his current career tournament earnings record of $1 million.
