Update: Oleksii Kovalchuk Wins World Series of Poker Event 42


Second WSOP bracelet for the promising Ukrainian poker pro

This year’s World Series of Poker competition has been very successful for the young Ukrainian poker pro Oleksii Kovalchuk who already managed to cash in $689,739 at three events and eventually win Event 42 - $2,500 buy-in Limit Omaha/ Seven-Card Stud Hi/Low 8/OB to take home the first prize and his second bracelet after the last year’s win in the No Limit Hold'em Six Handed event.

Kovalchuk claimed amount of $228,014 for winning this tournament, as his competition earnings grew to almost $2 million following a series of major international events which regularly brought him cash prizes.

In the event that attracted 393 talented players, Kovalchuk bested the final table rivals including George Danzer, Mark Gregorich, Daniel Ratigan, Yuval Bronshtein, Norman Chad, Wing Wong and Tim Burt in three days of dynamic battle.

After sending others home, Kovalchuk and George Danzer met in the exciting heads up. The Ukrainian player initially held the chip lead, but Danzer managed to fight back and take over the lead, however this was a short-term change, as Kovalchuk took it back around level 27-28 to emerge victorious soon after the big encounter.

Danzer earned the second prize of $140,825 as a reward for his focus on delivering the best-possible performance.
