Pappas: Tribal Groups Drafting Their Own Online Poker Legalization Bill?

PPA exec believes the interest is there

According to the executive director of the Poker Players Association action group, John Pappas, the meeting Senate Indian Affairs Committee is to hold on July 24 on "the regulation of tribal gaming, focusing on brick and mortar to the internet" implies that tribal operators have their own federal online poker legalization bill in sight.

In that respect, Pappas stated: "I think the timing [of the hearing] is around the idea that Indian tribes are interested in drafting their own legislation. They want to stake a claim to the process and feel that the best way for them to assert their interests is through their own bill."

He may have some valuable insight into the situation, since one of the witnesses at the hearing is former Nevada Congressman Jon Porter, a PPA ambassador.
