Second online poker operator license approved
Right after South Point Poker, the Nevada Gaming Commission organized an intrastate licensing hearing for the application of the Reno-based Monarch Interactive Inc., a subsidiary of a land casino operator, at which the company received the commissioners’ approval and became the second one to obtain the license as an operator.
Although Monarch may not be as prepared well ahead for operation as South Point, both will have to undergo intensive independent technology testing and a possible final review by Nevada regulators before starting the real-money operations.
In related news, Global Cash Access Holdings, Inc., also obtained licensing at the NGC hearing on Aug. 23, so it will be able to provide online payment services.
