Ben Hamnett is the big winner in the 2012 World Poker Tour Borgata Poker Open main event with prize money of $818,847. This is the first WPT title for him.
“I’m glad I played my best. That’s the most I could hope for. I’m glad I got lucky, and I’m glad it all worked out,” said Hamnett. “There were a few places where I blinked. Maybe I backed off when I didn’t need to, but everything worked out and I feel like I did everything as best I could.”
In total, there were 1,181 entries into this year’s WPT Borgata Poker Open, which has made it only the second largest WPT event thus far with an astounding prize pool of $3,897,300.
Mathew Burnitz came in second place taking $488,850 in cash. This is the second time Burnitz placed second in a tournament at the Borgata this summer.
Coming in third was Tyler Patterson who staked his claim on prize money totaling $298,950.
