Poker Pro Phil Ivey Denied £7.3m Payout

The UK’s oldest casino, Crockfords, had launched an investigation regarding a recent £7.3 million win by Phil Ivey.

Crockfords, a Mayfair Gaming club owned by Genting, has notified the Gambling Commission that it is refusing to pay Ivey until this investigation is completed.

Ivey sat down to a game of Punto Banco, skill-free variant of baccarat, and began an amazing streak of luck. It is said that he played for two evenings during a bank holiday in August for a total of approximately seven hours.

The 184-year-old casino had told Ivey, of California, that the cash would be transferred into his bank account yet six weeks later he has only received his £1 million stake.

The casino staff was questioned to rule out any suspicion of collusion. At this time there is no information to suggest what exactly Ivey is being accused of. The lawyers for both parties are working to get this resolved.

While playing in the casino, Ivey was accompanied by a female companion. Questions were raised when it came out that she was a member at another Mayfair casino but had been suspended for an unknown reason.
