Michael Phelps Returns to Poker Sporting a New Look
The gold medalist swimmer has jetted off to play in a major poker tournament this week at the Atlantis Resort in The Bahamas. Day one of the competition saw him make it through with 92,000 chips which was better than some of the poker pros in the competition. Phelps eventually increased his stack to 119,000 after making it through the first level of play at the main table. Most of us are used to seeing Phelps sporting a swimming cap and speedos but he's eliminated that getup for the poker tables. The Caribbean has brought about a look that was best described by USA Today as: “the back-skewed hat of Justin Bieber, the hipster spectacles of an NBA player who's trying too hard, the goatee of a guy in a bar who propositions your wife while you're in the bathroom and a jacket -- well, the jacket looks fine. Is that Under Armour?” “Maybe this is the start of a new trend for Phelps: doing things were really popular six years ago. That way, if he busts out of the tournament, he can relax by playing some Wii bowling while talking in a Borat voice to complain about Crash winning best picture.”
