Spanish and Italian Poker Player Pools to Be Combined?
Hinting that the Spanish and Italian dedicated poker player pools may be combined before the end of 2013, a top executive at the Spanish regulator La Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ), Enrique Alejo, explained that such a move would present a benefit of both nations. Since the regulations in Spain and Italy include provisions for shared player pools, should the two countries' regulators reach an agreement in the current negotiations, dedicated national networks such as Ongame and iPoker, as well as Pokerstars, PartyPoker and 888 would be able to offer their operators a wider player pool, thus boosting liquidity and profitability. In addition to this, with the prospect of other European nations (such as Germany or Portugal) developing similar regulatory structures, shared player pools could become a major opportunity to make online poker profits bloom.
