Venice Poker Tourney Not Lucky for Hellmuth
This week, international poker ace Phil Hellmuth experienced a bad beat when he was eliminated on Day1b of the WPT Venice Grand Prix. He had made quite an entrance before his defeat, arriving to the venue at the Casino de Venezia Ca Vendramin Calergi along the Grand Canal in a gold gondola, surrounded by beautiful women and wearing a Venetian 'carnivale' mask, tuxedo and flowing cape. However, he only stayed in the action for one level of play, when he busted with top-pair and a weak kicker, leaving Italian pro Fernando Cimaglia as chip leader on 175,000. The second entry day for the tourney saw 108 players enter the competition, bringing the total number of entries to 173 players, who generated a prize pool of $576,740
