According to the Malta-based online security company ReVuln, which defines itself as "...an international company providing various security services," there are security vulnerabilities in a number of leading online poker sites' systems that need to be attended to.
After conducting an independent probe into networks such as iPoker, Microgaming and B3W, the company issued a free and mainly technical report on its findings, noting that client-side software is the most vulnerable part of online poker network security.
What it states as one of the main problems is a lack of SSL connections when updates are executed, as well as insufficient password storage protection.
The company recommended using unique encryption keys, and welcomed the precautions required by online poker giant PokerStars.
