Over the weekend, the European Poker Tour Berlin main event kicked off, and the Berlin Cup saw Dutch player Pieter De Korver triumph the event and take home a major share of the Euro 500,000 guaranteed Berlin Cup prize pool. With the buy-in being reasonably affordable at Euro 1,100, the entry field was rather big with 911 hopefuls who generated a prize pool of Euro 883,670. At the final table, de Korver was second placed behind chip leader, a Russian player Anatoly Filatov, and they were followed by Sebastian Gohr (Germany); Jonas Garstick (Switzerland); Esben Guenther (Norway); Erik Scheidt (Germany); Gokhan Onal (Germany) and Vladimir Geshkenbein (Russia). When the table was down to three - De Korver, Filatov and Ghor – the trio agreed on a three-way chop soon after which Filatov busted out, leaving De Korver and Gohr in the heads up. Finally, the main prize along with the honors went to the Dutch, who will take home Euro 145,400, while Gohr had to settle for Euro 93,600.
