British Poker Pro Pleads Guilty to Murdering Wife in 1997
Marcus Bebb-Jones, 49-year-old British poker pro, denied murdering his wife Sabrina and burying her body in a Colorado nation park back in 1997. Sixteen years after the crime, he comes forth to admit to killing her. Bebb-Jones and his wife owned the Melrose Hotel in Grand Junction, Colorado when she went missing. A ranger in the national park discovered her skull in 2004 which led to Bebb-Jones' arrest in 2009 following a raid of his Kidderminster, Worcestershire home. Prosecutors revealed that Bebb-Jones racked up expenses to the tune of thousands of dollars on his wife's credit card just before attempting to shoot himself in the head. After an unsuccessful suicide attempt, he moved from the USA back to the UK with their 3-year-old son. Bebb-Jones gained recognition in the UK poker circuit and took a £90,000 prize in the Grosvenor Grand Prix in 2007. He was extradited to the US and in February he pleaded guilty at a hearing in the 9th Judicial District Court in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. The victim's family sought “'the maximum penalty for his cruelty, lack of remorse and for taking Sabrina from them.” Sentencing is scheduled for Wednesday in Colorado Bebb-Jones could spend 20 years in jail for his crime.
