Update: Ireland's O’Dwyer Wins EPT Grand Final Main Event!
It's been wildly exciting in a final table for the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo Casino European Poker Tour Grand Final main event, where Dublin, Ireland poker pro Steve O'Dwyer has won the Euro 1,224,000 after defeating some of the biggest names of the game in his fourth EPT final table in 18 months. Apart from the 31-year-old Dublin pro who won his main event seat online at PokerStars, the final table included Andrew Pantling, Johnny Lodden, Daniel Negreanu, Jake Cody, Noah Schwartz, Jason Mercier and Grant Levy. In the heads-up, O'Dwyer faced businessman Andrew Pantling whom he sent home with Euro 842,000 as a runner-up prize. Apart from the massive cash prize, O'Dwyer also received a watch worth Euro 9,000 from luxury Swiss brand Slyde. Commenting on his win, after the heads up, O'Dwyer said: “People are saying this was the toughest final table of all time so for me to be able to say that I won is unbelievable. I am in shock. At the start of the final, I knew I needed to get lucky to win because these guys are so good. It's very satisfying to finally have that title. I will play the Euro 100,000 Super High Roller tomorrow.” The Euro 10,000 buy-in event saw 531 entrants from 56 countries, who generated a prize pool worth Euro 5,310,000. In total, 81 players cashed out.
