French TV to Broadcast World Poker Tour Game
An exclusive World Poker Tour game has been launched by the Toronto-based social video game platform developer TransGaming on GameTree TV for the Freebox Revolution. Freebox Revolution is a new generation set-top box by Free, the French telecommunication company that first introduced a "triple-play" service in France which combines Internet, landline, and IP television. The new WPT game offering will now become available to Free's rapidly growing subscriber base, bringing poker experience to its users and adding a layer of social engagement and interactivity, commented company spokesman Vikas Gupta on Tuesday. He noted that "The game will immerse players in authentic WPT No-Limit Texas Hold 'Em play that rivals real-life, with stylish 3D visuals and wily AI opponents. TransGaming's exclusive WPT game will be available as part of the GameTree TV subscription service, as well as for separate purchase shortly thereafter." In addition, World Poker Tour president Adam Pliska commented on the deal, expressing the company's satisfaction with the TransGaming product, which will give the WPT fan base "...an immersive and authentic WPT experience on their connected televisions. "The Connected TV market is growing at a rapid pace and consumers are looking for high quality branded entertainment content. We've built the World Poker Tour video game to offer a dedicated 'television based experience' that makes players feel like they are participating in a real WPT tournament," he said.
